ABOUT US

Our store opened in 1956 as Smith's Ceramics with a focus on ceramic craft supplies. In 2009, we relocated to Brewer Maine and changed our name to The Creative Arts Center. As our customer base expanded, we received many requests to follow suit by concentrating our efforts on creating an affordable, quality family time experience. With this family-oriented approach, we've added hundreds of products, and are constantly growing to ensure that our customers have access to a high-quality variety of ceramic products.

We have also added our clay room. We have three pottery wheels, a slab roller, and extruder, for your hand-building pleasure. Wheel lessons are available for a fee. For those with wheel throwing experience, we rent the wheels by the hour or by the month.

We have added a "Ladies night, 6-9 pm. on Tuesdays. It is also called "UFO" night. You may bring your own un-finished object that you may have started years ago, but have never finished. There is no charge for this. If you choose to do a ceramic project from our studio, your expense is for the piece. We're also pleased to offer a variety of painting techniques, taught by a local expert, Teresa Wong. All you have to do is ask! We invite you to attend, make friends and learn new techniques.
